Join us at Renewable Energy Group in Ames on Thursday, April 11th at 8am for our monthly meeting to hear from Brianna Sink. She will be discussing Make It Ok - Mental Health.  

Make It OK is community campaign to reduce stigma by starting conversations and increasing understanding about mental illness.

Did you know 1 in 5 are diagnosed with a mental illness in a given year while 1 in 10 are diagnosed with diabetes? Yet how we talk about these two illnesses is very different.

The Deliverables

After participating in this session, attendees will be able:

• Learn more about what Make It OK is

• Better understand what you can do to reduce the stigma through key messages and resources

• Feel more confident in talking more openly about mental illness, and helping people get the care and support they need

Brianna holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from the University of Northern Iowa. After she graduated in 2016, Brianna began working in the office furniture industry where she helped grow sales and managed multiple accounts from the mid-west to the southeast. After 5 years in the furniture industry, she was ready to find a new challenge that would make an impact in her community.

Brianna has been with Iowa Healthiest State Initiative, a non-profit, since December of 2022. She currently is their Make It OK Coordinator which focuses on the Make It OK community campaign to reduce the stigma of mental health through educating others that it's OK to not be OK.

Brianna and her husband, Chris, currently reside in Ankeny, Iowa with their son, Graham, and dog, Lucy
