Join us in person at REG (416 S. Bell Ave. Ames) on Thursday, August 9th at 8am for our monthly meeting to hear from Anita Rollins!
She will be speaking about DEIA and the Human Resources Professional.
The evidence is overwhelming: institutions benefit when they attract and retain a diverse workforce. We also know that much of the work that can lead to diverse, equitable, inclusive and accessible workplaces is the purview of the human resource (HR) professional. During this session we’ll consider some of the latest research, share experiences, and discover ways to improve our DEIA strategies.
For more than 20 years, Anita worked with thousands of Iowa precollege students of color and their families as manager of Iowa State University’s Science Bound program. She earned a B.S. from the University of Kansas, an M.S. from Iowa State in education, and a certification in social justice from Iowa State. A resident of Ames, Anita is retired from Iowa State and assists agencies with DEIA-related initiatives while serving in a number of community organizations.
Objectives:
• Review the current state of DEIA in the workplace.
• Consider how human resource professionals can and do make an impact on DEIA.
• Map individual DEIA efforts and brainstorm future work
